On a cold and frosty December 16th, a rather large and enthusiastic group of IGS students made their way to St. Margaret’s church, in Ilkley, to practice for the annual Countdown to Christmas concert that was due to take place later that evening.
Fast forward a few hours, and before they knew it the church began to fill up with the chatter and cheer of family and friends – the evening had begun. There were candles lighting up the beautiful space with the sound of instruments being tuned up, ready to play.
The concert began with the rhythmic samba band and ended with the tuneful carol of ‘O come all ye Faithful’. The service was made up of the great Junior Orchestra, Christmas scenes by the Year 7 drama club; the incredible senior orchestra, who played all of the backing music for hymns, and the outstanding Year 10 and Year 13 students who showcased such amazing talent.
Overall, the service was a great success, everyone in attendance enjoyed themselves and left feeling like Christmas had really begun.
