The second Ilkley Christmas Tree Festival took place at St Margaret’s Church between November 21st to the 23rd. The event which was opened by Ilkley Town Mayor, Cllr Mark Stidworthy & Canon Philip Grey, Vicar of St Margaret’s Church, was helped by a number of IGS students who gave up their time to contribute to the event by undertaking jobs such as, counting votes and cheerily welcoming the many visitors who came through the door.
Visitors were given the extremely tough task of voting on the best-decorated Christmas tree; all twenty-five of which were meticulously hand-decorated by a range of local charities.
The winning tree was Nell-Bank, with Friends of Martin House coming in at close 2nd and W.I. Bluebelles in 3rd.
The event was accompanied by a range of different entertainment including local choirs & story telling. It really was an evening to behold and a wonderful start to the festive period.
The organiser, Jessica Jeffrey, would like to thank all those who helped and contributed towards running the event. Till next year!
