Post 16 Taster day took place on January 20th, 2020. The day allowed Year 11 students from Ilkley Grammar, as well as other local schools, to discover what opportunities post 16 at IGS held for them. The day began in B-Hall, where Mr. Gutch introduced himself to the year 11 students, as the director of post-16. The introduction allowed students to understand what grades they need to get in, as well as informing the students of what a typical Post 16 timetable looks like.
After the assembly, students followed a timetable for the rest of the day that had been meticulously planned by IGS staff and allowed them to have a taster of their chosen subjects. The timetable included options the students chose several weeks before, as well as an introduction to post-16 in F-Hall. Students were able to choose from a wide variety of options from Biology to Business, there really is something for everyone.
Now to the lessons: Teachers began with an introduction to their subject – a spiel of wonderment that they had clearly been working on, before allowing students to attempt some of the Post 16 work for their subject.
The day must have taken a lot of planning and preparation so, thank you to the teachers and staff for an extremely useful day.
